Help & Docs
Everything you need to install, activate, and get the most out of ClipPilot.
1 Installing ClipPilot
Windows
- Download the installer (the
.exe).
- Double-click it and follow the prompts.
- Open ClipPilot AI from your Start menu.
macOS
- Open the
.dmg you downloaded.
- Drag ClipPilot into your Applications folder.
- Open it from Applications. If macOS warns the first time, right-click the app → Open.
ClipPilot runs entirely on your computer — your videos are never uploaded anywhere.
2 Activating your license
- Open ClipPilot. When it asks for a license, paste your license key.
- That's it — the app checks the key once and unlocks.
Where's my license key?
- Bought on Etsy? Go to clippilotai.online/activate, enter your Etsy order number, and your key + download appear.
- Bought on Gumroad? Your key is on your Gumroad receipt and in your Gumroad Library.
A license runs on
one computer at a time. Keep your key somewhere safe — you can always re-open
/activate with your Etsy order number to get it again, with no second purchase.
3 Updates
Updates are automatic. When a new version is out, ClipPilot shows an “Update available” message on launch — click Update now and it installs itself and restarts. You never need to re-download or reinstall by hand.
Updates are free for the life of your license.
4 Using it on a different computer
Your license is for one computer at a time — Windows or macOS. To move it to a new machine, first sign out / deactivate on the old one, then activate on the new one. If you get stuck, contact support and we'll release your old device.
5 Working offline
Once activated, ClipPilot keeps working offline — all the reframing, captions and exporting happen on your computer. It quietly re-checks your license now and then when you're online; if you're offline for a while, it keeps running and checks again next time you connect.
6 Troubleshooting
“Activation failed” or “invalid key”
- Check the key is copied fully, with no extra spaces.
- Make sure you're online for the first activation.
- If the key was already used on another computer, deactivate it there first (or contact support).
Export or GPU error
If an export fails mentioning your graphics card or driver, updating your GPU driver usually fixes it. ClipPilot will also fall back to CPU encoding automatically.
